The following listing is provided so interested poets may receive more information about poetry readings, poetry societies or writing groups in areas of the state of Texas. Many groups have competitions whose due date may have passed by the time you read this listing. Contact individuals listed for more information. Contact Current Events Manager at Sol.Events@prodigy.net only with updates, to remove old listings, or to send us information about your writing group. Include location, regular meeting dates, time, address, contact name and phone number. Include e-mail address and website information if you wish.

Some venues have no events listed because they either don't get us the information or just don't have any current events scheduled.  If they remain empty, we will eventually purge them from this list.  Some may only have an event once a year.

Page updated 8/8/2007  Attn Firefox users: Always do a frame reload (right click, /"This frame"/"Reload frame") to make sure the latest page is seen. Doing F5, ctrl-F5, or page reload button will not reload this page if it is being viewed as a frame which depends on how you got to this page. This is a major deficiency in Firefox's refresh logic.

The links below will usually take you elsewhere on this page for more information, and that may in turn provide a link to an external page.

Poets Northwest Meeting--August 11, 2007

The presentation in August will be held by Peggy Zuleika Lynch with the subject, "Don't Give Up."  Peggy will motivate us "not to give up" when our poetry is rejected by a publisher.  "Not to give up" when we have writer's block and can't seem to get any words on paper.  She will encourage us to "keep going" in spite of obstacles.

Peggy is well-known in poetry circles, having been honored with 5 Pushcart Prize nominations.  She has published 9 books of her own and co-edited many anthologies.  She and her late husband Edmnd C. Lynch co-edited the Poetry Society Book of the Year from 1983 to 1994.    In 1983 they co-founded Poetry in the Arts in Austin which provides a forum for local, state, national, and international poets.

At each meeting there is a Read-A-Round where members and visitors can share their poetry.
