wuz wonderin f any1 else wuz wonderin bout the 'big 1'

now, rich, u kno i'm a diehard steeler fan 2 the core, but being as objective as i can, i still hv 2 go wit my boyz n the black & gold (thou they'll b wearin their road colors)

they hv jus become road hardened warriors ova the last month or so, & i can't help but feel they've com 2 far jus 2 lose.  admittedly, they've done it the hard way, but that jus makes it all the mor impressive.  i believe they hv better balance overall, & a slight edgeiness on defense.  plus, i actually feel the steelers hv more offensive weapons - something i never thot i'd say anytime soon.

i believe the final score will b even more lopsided than ur score.  i'm pickin the steelers by two TD's; big ben gets the MVP, troy gets 1 int & porter gets a couple of sack's.

The Seahawks will win their first Super Bowl in team history with the final score of 33-30. The Steelers won't be able to contain Shaun Alexander as he rumbles for 142 yards rushing and three tds. This is going to be one of the Super Bowls that goes down in history.

Final Score
Seattle-33

Pittsburgh-30

Shaun Alexanders record stats-370 rushing attempts 1,880 rushing yards 5.1 yards per carry and 27 touchdowns

Willie Parkers stats 255 rushing attempts(not bad) 1,202 rushing yards(the most for any Steelers running back since Jerome Bettis arrived with the team) 4.7 yards per carry(not bad at all) 80 is his longest run(it was against a weak ass Houston Texans team) 4 touchdowns(damn, Shaun had four touchdowns in the first game of the season).

what did i think of the game?  so glad u asked

sometimes, when u can't get n ur grove & u find urself & ur teamates playing poorly, there's only 1 way to still win the game:  make sure the other team plays even more poorly than u do, & that's what the steelers did.

as 4 the refs (i saw that python), i'm not buying n2 that.  the steelers can't control the calls on the field & hv been victimized as much as any1 thru the playoffs (re: steelers vs colts).  bad calls r, un4tunately, part of the game & u must treat them like any other adversity to b overcome, f ur serious about winning.

the steelers were clearly outplayed n every phase of the game n the 1st half, but the 'hawks didn't hv the points 2 proove it.  on the other hand, the steelers outplayed the 'hawks n those phases of the game that count the most n the 2nd half & that was enuf 2 win the game.  sure, the hawks prob could hv had at least 2 calls reversed & go their way.  but the refs can't b blamed 4 the dropped balls, mediocre running, & atrociously bad clock management, not once, but twice during the closing minutes of both halves.  the 'hawks simply missed too many opportunities to crush a jittery, nervous, out of rthym sputtering offense of the steelers when they had the chance.

the steelers, on the other hand, made better half time adjustments, took the ball out of a suddenly immature big ben's hands (as often as possible), & capitalized on the few opportunities that presented themselves.  they really had only three big plays on offense.  to me, neither team played an outstanding game, & both of them made mistakes all over the field, but then, that might hv been due to the hi calibur of the defenses.

however, the 'hawks scored only one TD during the entire game, & that when they had a short field as a result of an int.  that simply won't get it done n the superbowl, & it shouldn't.  the ref's didn't steal the game from the 'hawks, they took care of that themselves.  it wuz an 'ugly' win 4 the steelers, but u kno what?  even ugly wins can feel good after the game is over.

now it should b clear to every1, the steelers r 1 of the NFL's elite teams, & hv been for the past 2 seasons.   i'm happy 4 jerome, ward, randle el, & believe it or not, i'm even happy 4 cower, who has taken so much heat 4 his 'inability' to win the 'big one'.

final thot:  it's ironic, & sort of poetic justice, that hines ward, a potential hold out n the pre-season 4 contract negotiations, sucked it up & came n2 camp w/o a new contract, worked things out (4 less $$ than he could hv gotten w another team), & then turns around 2b the MVP n the superbowl.  go hines.  oh, & also,

HOW BOUT THEM STEELERS ?

It just seem to me, like the worst football game you can watch at the end of the year is the Super Bowl. Every year it just look odd how the best of the best drops balls, Then calls are  made out of the thin air and instant replays show they were unfair....And to really put the ice on the cake, they had a British  Band  to do  the half time entertainer...

it is because i've been a steeler fan for over 30 years that thier 5th SB victory means so much to me.  w/o a doubt, it was their ugliest victory of them all, but something quite interesting came out of it.  after the dust & celebrations faded, i thought about what it took 4 them to get there & it struck me as almost unbelieveable.

the steelers have done something that can NEVER b surpassed, at least not until the playoff format is changed by the league.  of course, part of that was due to factors not under their control, just happenstance, but nevertheless, occurred.

the steelers were the last team n the league to make the palyoffs & came in as the sixth seed n the AFC.  o k, every1 who follows football know's they won 3 road games 2 get 2 the SB - but, u say, that was done b4.  and it was, specifically by new england - BUT, not only did new england get blown out n the SB that year, but they did not play the #1, #2, & #3 seeded teams, all on the road, in order to get there.   by playing, & defeating the #1, #2, & #3 teams n the AFC, all on the road, & then facing & beating the #1 seeded team n the NFC, all, as the last seeded team to make the playoffs, the steelers came from the lowest possible position to defeat, basically, the top four teams in the league - something that's never been done, and, is unlikely to be equalled in my lifetime.

i agree w the above post only about the music selection.  this was, after all, motown & it seemed a slap n the face to select an aged, overpaid, warmed over rock band as the half time show.

as for all the 'dropped balls', i would say this.  by far, n most seasons the two teams facing e/o really r the best of the best, & they didn't get there via an inept defense.  coverages r tight & blowouts r becomming quite rare.  notice how infrequent double digit victories r becomming (n the SB).  the level of competition is increadibly hi & both teams r about as highly motivated as humanly possible to get the win.  surely, it's understandable that teams don't always shine under these circumstances.
