To honor our ancestors is to honor our selves
It is from his sacrifice that I’m able to write
It is from his life that I see a light
That shines toward a mountain beyond the stars
Flashing a sign that all is reachable
It is from his first steps that I’m able to take two
It is from his voice, I’m able to sing true
It is because of the love of his people that I learned to love as well
That the shades of our skin don't hide who we are, and to be proud that we're children of Africa
From the love of his wife he found the strength in me
From the love of his children he adopted me
And today honors a great man who went beyond a thought
Malcolm X, Brother Malcolm As-Salaam-Alaikum
